I love traveling and cultural immersion in interesting places. I also love cooking and eating interesting food! If the places are pretty and the food fabulous, even better! I'm fascinated by foreign foods and family traditions around food. And, after years spent in Mexico, Peru, Spain, and visiting the small towns and cities of Europe and the U.S., I've learned that food cooked at the hearth of the home or in a local restaurant is a cultural expression of love, nurturing, and joy! For me it's provided the inspiration to share that love with others and nourish their souls through food. Creating the experience of a beautiful meal for people I love is like giving them the biggest hug, and providing healthy, organic and colorful foods at my table is a kiss of care.
"La Finca" means small farm in Spanish. We chose the name because of my passion for growing organic vegetables, herbs and edible flowers. Our growing season here in Steamboat Springs is short, so preserving produce is a focus! Our gardens are slowly expanding, and our greenhouse is small but efficient. And most importantly, our home is full of visiting children, grandchildren and friends! We are so appreciative of the Colorado blue skies in summer and a cozy hearth fire in winter - both provide a wonderful place to entertain, cook and care for the people we love!
